‘Upon a winter morning
where the sun stained the sky purple there came a rustle of oak leaves shackled in frost
which had not plummeted from branch till this hour.
An irksome breeze liked by few practised its moroseness on said icy fronds….
Puff went the breeze flutter went the leaves down upon an unassuming mushroom that hid from sight a small creature
from whose mouth came a squeal at such a disagreeable smother
The cry echoed out into a clearing
where it reached the fuzzy eats of Mildred Dapplesuffer the rabbit….
To whence the holler came went Mildred with a floppy hop and a droopy step.
She came upon a whimpering heap.
Beneath higgledy-piggledy twigs and leaves was plunked a weeping wee moppet and the kindly bunny tutted at the child who raised her snivelling nose then promptly stood and stated that tears had never left her eyes….
