The holy card depicts the Virgin Mary as she appeared in an apparition in Knock, Ireland, on August 21, 1879. 
The apparition was a silent event witnessed by 15 people and included figures of St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist, an altar, and a lamb. 
On the back reads a prayer: Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, Mother of the Church. A hundred years ago you came to Knock with St. Joseph, St. John and the Spotless Lamb. You brought consolation and
hope to your people - poor and suffering, but strong in faith.
As we remember that great event, we honour you, Mother of God. Over the years, in good times and bad, the mighty and lowly have come to your shrine - to pray, to give thanks, to seek help. They come to hear the Word of God, to celebrate the Holy Mass. to obtain healing, pardon and peace. For this we thank you Queen of Heaven, your silence at Knock speaks louder than words. Amid the noise and bustle of life, share with us your silence - to bring peace and love to our hearts. Teach us how to pray. Open our hearts to all in need. Lift us when we fall.
Strengthen us when we lose heart.
Comfort us when we are sick. Fill our lives with the praise of God. In the years ahead, help us to keep the faith of our fathers, to be loyal to the Church, to bring Christ to all men.
Our Lady of Knock, look with pity on our land, and guide all nations in the way of peace.
